June 27 to 29, 2008, The Mother Lode of Operating Sessions, hosted
by Steve Hayes and John Zach, features three days of non-stop
operations on their world famous
Western Pacific
and Sierra Railroad
model railroads, located in the beautiful California foothills towns
of Soulsbyville and Twain Harte. Day 1, Friday, starts at 7:30 pm for an
early bird operating session on John Zach's Sierra Railroad. If
enough people come, both railroads will be operated.
Day 2, Saturday, 10:30 am to 10:00 pm in two sessions. The
morning session starts at 10:30 am, with the crew divided between
the two railroads, and finishes by 4:00pm. Then it's off for a
no-host dinner at a local restaurant. After dinner, the crews will
swap railroads for the evening sessions, running from 6:00 to 10:00
pm.
Day 3, Sunday starts with a no-host breakfast and then it's back
to the Western Pacific around 9:00 am. If enough people stay over
Saturday night, both railroads will be operated in the morning,
ending about 2:00 pm for the trip home.
Steve and John are hoping for 28 to 30 operators for the Saturday
